Based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines this course has been reviewed and/or supported by the American Camp Association, American Canoe Association, National Recreation and Park Association, and the JCC Association.

Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course
Cost is $120.00 per person.

Prerequisites include a current Adult CPR/AED certificate from Red Cross or a recognized training agency within one year of issue, and a minimum age of 14.
You will be asked to provide proof of CPR certification on the first day of class.

If you do not have at a minimum Adult CPR/AED certification, please register and complete a course prior to the Wilderness First Aid course date.  This can be done by attending an Adult CPR/AED class or Adult CPR/AED online/blended learning course – see course schedule on our website.

To help ensure an enjoyable and successful experience:

• Dress comfortably and bring weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and shoes suitable for the current seasonal weather forecast and outdoor conditions.  Please keep in mind that many course skills are practiced outside on the ground and will also be using moulage for skill scenarios, blood, bruising, etc and clothing might get stained or torn.   Hiking boots or tennis shoes recommended.

• Please arrive on time; no admittance is permitted 15 minutes after the start of the class.
• A lunch break will be provided each day. You will need to bring a lunch.
• Please bring water or Powerade type drinks and snacks for full day classes.
• Please bring a mat or something to sit on for outdoor skill sessions.  Please make sure it is lightweight and easy to carry.
• Practice sessions can be physically demanding. If you have any questions about your ability to participate, consult with your health care provider prior to the course.  Please be aware you must be able to get on the floor/ground for many of the skills.

Course Certification
Payment of the course fee is not a guarantee of certification.  To be eligible for course certification you must:
• Be present for the entire course.
• Successfully complete all required skills.

Refunds will be issued under the following circumstances:
If you are unable to attend the course, a refund will be issued for cancellations made at least seven days prior to the start of the course, less a $25 administration fee. Cancellations received less than seven days prior to the start of the course will result in loss of the entire registration fee. You may register for another class up to one year from the original date of payment.

The Greater Chattanooga Area American Red Cross reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the classes due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather conditions.   In the unlikely event that your course is canceled we will make every attempt to contact you so please provide two phone numbers when registering.

Participants who do not successfully complete the required skills may register for the same class at a later date within one year, applying 50% of the fee for this course.
